Lymphatic System and BloodYour body has two circulatory systems: cardiovascular system and lymphatic system, joined together by the smallest of body's blood vessels - capillaries. The cardiovascular system is composed of the heart and the blood vessel: arteries, veins, and capillaries. Inside of the system is blood made up of liquid plasma and the red and white blood cells. The heart pumps blood into the arteries, which carry it to everywhere in your body. Veins return blood from all parts of the body to the heart. The blood vessels represent a closed delivery system, which functions to transport blood around the body, circulating substances such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, as well as the nutrients and the waste products absorbed from the intestines. All blood flows through the kidneys. Kidneys filter the blood to remove the waste products and excess fluids. Necessary fluids are returned to the cardiovascular circulation. This is why it makes a perfect sense to complete colon cleansing and kidney cleanse before starting a blood cleanse. The liver receives blood from the intestines and from the heart. Blood from the intestines contains nearly everything absorbed by the intestines, including nutrients, drugs, and sometimes toxins. This blood flows through tiny capillaries in the intestinal walls into the portal vein, which leads to the liver. The blood then flows through the tiny channels inside the liver, where digested nutrients and toxins are processed. From the heart, blood arrives into the liver trough the hepatic artery. This blood carries oxygen to the liver tissues as well as cholesterol and other substances for processing. In the liver tissues, the blood from the intestines and heart mix and flow back to the heart through the hepatic vein. As you see, it is essential at least once a year to do both the liver detox and the blood cleansing. Lymphatic system is composed of lymph vessels, lymph nodes, and the spleen. Lymphatic system is an open circuit system. Lymph flows in only one direction from the tissues into lymphatic vessels. Lymph is not pumped. It passively flows from the spaces between cells into the lymph capillaries. Flow within the lymphatic vessels is aided by other body movements such as deep breathing and the action of nearby muscles and blood vessels. Lymph contains white blood cells - lymphocytes, along with the proteins and fats. Lymph is responsible for collecting and removing waste products left behind in the tissues. It also drains excess fluids, fats, and protein so that tissues do not swell up. There are two important ducts in the lymphatic system: the right lymphatic duct and the thoracic duct. The right lymphatic duct drains lymph fluid from the upper right quarter of the body. The thoracic duct is a structure roughly sixteen inches long and is located in the middle of the chest and drains the rest of the body. Lymph is filtered by lymph nodes located throughout the body. There are more than 100 tiny lymph nodes. These are mainly in the neck, groin and armpits. They are also dispersed all along the lymph vessels. They act as barriers to infection by filtering out and destroying toxins and germs. Lymph that has been filtered and is ready to return to the cardiovascular system is a clear or milky white fluid. The largest body of lymphoid tissue in your body is the spleen. It located in the upper left part of the abdomen behind the stomach and just below the diaphragm. The spleen creates lymphocytes for the destruction and recycling of old red blood cells. It is also a blood reservoir. It supplies the body with blood in emergencies such as a bad cut. The spleen is also the location where white blood cells trap foreign organisms. This is why before starting lymph detox you probably should do the blood cleansing. When you eat the food, your body digests it for its nutrients, and then sends those nutrients to every living cell in your body. As the cells process these nutrients some waste is created. The waste from each cell must be removed or the body will "drown" in its own waste. Both, lymphatic system and cardiovascular system work to remove bacteria, microorganisms, dead cells, and other unwanted substances from your body. It is important for you to keep those complex systems clean as your immune system depends on them. |
